Media Snobs — Grade, Review, Discuss

Pretty ok comeback album with a handful of killer songs but it really loses steam after the first half.

Don't really listen to the boys much anymore but they have a ton of good episodes. This book is also pretty fun.

Nothing else is really pulling up so consider this a grade for all things Chapo. Love this podcast and it's carried me through so much bullshit since I started listening almost a decade ago. Wishing Matt a continued recovery. It's good hearing him sounding healthy on some of the newer episodes.

Top-tier RABM that somehow manages to hit you over the head with their anarchist politics in a fist-bumping instead of the usual cringe-inducing way. Absolutely rips.

Pretty boring for a Priest album. Different singer who had the impossible task of filling Halford's shoes, although Ripper is pretty competent. I think the biggest crime here is the music is just straight up thrash.

Zahler is a weird film maker. His strange and profoundly reactionary yet deeply cynical worldview informs everything he makes and completely rejects any sort of boxes that people try and place him in. Dragged Across Concrete is a hard movie to watch. The violence is hard. The racism is hard. The characters are largely unlikeable. But it's a rough story that's told and filmed exceptionally well.

Remember when everyone thought this was going to spawn a wave of school shooters because the movie didn't have a talking raccoon come out and say 'and that's why it's bad bad to murder people kids' or something? Awesome times. Movie is pretty fun.

Fantastic book all around. I can't really describe it without sounding like some annoying Booktoker or boring NYT critic, but it explores so many different threads and themes beautifully and often subtly. Moments of cosmic and occult terror interspersed with what's mostly a coming of age story, but not in a lame American author kind of way. Read this now. A dang classic.
